Urban Refugee Programme

InterAid Uganda has implemented the Urban Refugee Programme since March 1995 under a yearly tripartite agreement between UNHCR, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and InterAid, therefore has considerable experience in addition to knowledge on the changing trends of urban refugees in Kampala. The Urban Refugee Multi – sectoral Programme in Kampala is currently designed to support a total population of over 72,019 urban refugees comprising different nationalities residing in the surburbs of the five urban councils of Kampala. This population presents with diverse protection challenges related to Health, Education, Livelihood, HIV/AIDS, SGBV, Child Protection, and access to legal remedies while in Kampala.
