InterAid (U) World Refugee Day Congratulatory Message

InterAid Uganda, today 20th June 2013 joins the rest of the country and the rest world in the commemoration of the World Refugee Day, in remembrance and respect of the disadvantaged persons (refugees) who have been displaced from their countries of origin due to war and conflict. Within the context of the theme “1 family torn apart by war is too many” InterAid Uganda, as the lead agency implementing the Urban Refugee Programme in partnership with OPM and UNHCR, take this opportunity to congratulate the Government of Uganda for hosting refugees, UNHCR for fulfilling their protection mandate to refugees, and all refugees for their strength and resilience during this time when they are in forced displacement in the country of asylum, Uganda. Among the many refugees in Uganda, are the Urban Refugees in Kampala living in and around the suburbs of Makindye, Rubaga, Kawempe, Nakawa, and Central divisions, and as far as Mukono and Wakiso Districts, and in harmony with the local Ugandan community. On this special occasion, InterAid Uganda, takes the opportunity to extend appreciation to the general public , the host communities and public service providers for the hospitality and support extended towards addressing the challenges of displacement among the urban refugee communities. You indeed have played an important role in restoring hope as well as enabling refugees to find a home to settle and move on with life. Read more of this message
